Apollonius Candleholder

A sculptural candleholder inspired by the geometric studies of Apollonius of Perga, an ancient Greek mathematician and astronomer, who introduced the concepts of the ellipse and eccentricity. Composed of two independent elements, the candleholder is assembled through a concealed magnetic connection. A curved sheet is drawn toward the opposing linear module, where a hidden magnet creates a precise point of attraction. The two parts meet only through proximity, held together in a state of balance. Designed by architect Anoe Melliou, handcrafted in Berlin. The curved module is crafted from a ferritic stainless steel sheet with a hand-polished finish, while the counterpart houses a concealed high-performance magnet. Paired with ⌀ 5 mm taper candles.
