Hand-Twisted Copper Table Lamp on Hammered Plinth, 1960s

Two copper rods wound around one another while hot, the spiral opening and closing along its 54 cm stem. Handling has polished the crests back to pale brown, a bright spine running through the darker bronze-brown finish. Square box plinth of hand-hammered copper sheet, 13 cm across, tin-soldered at the seams. Black conical shade cut to this stem. Northern European workshop metalwork bought in Sweden, 1960s. One of a kind.
