Sculptural Library “Kang” by Pascal Mourgue for Scarabat, 1980s

Pascal Mourgue studied sculpture at the Boulle School before graduating from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He designed for Baccarat and Cartier. The Kang carries that weight — this is not a bookcase that organises books. It is a sculptural proposition that happens to hold them. Postmodern in language, austere in execution. Memphis without the colour, the restraint doing more work than the gesture. 172 x 86 x 27cm
