Stainless Steel and Wood Mimi Table Art Stand

The starting point of this project was the 4 solid steel spheres acquired in an antique shop, used in the past to play bocce. The main question of this project was: how to design an art stand using these spheres, that could also behave as a table sculpture at the same time? The sphere, a heavy element, is placed at the bottom of the piece, to bring the stability an art stand needs. That is held by a solid Freijó wooden handcrafted ring, which enriches the visual contrast of the piece by adding to the sculpture a layer of texture and also the warmness of the wood colour. The two last structures of this 4-part piece are the vertical and horizontal surfaces, which ultimately hold the artwork in place. This is a limited edition piece – 4 available.
