The Widescreen Bookstand

Designed by Anton Defant, the Widescreen Bookstand is composed of four interconnected surfaces in veneer that extend across the length of the object in a folded geometry. Finished in a deep matte lacquer, the surface reduces reflections while allowing the natural grain of the wood to remain visible. The slightly inclined planes create a continuous surface for holding and presenting books in an open, horizontal arrangement. Defined by its clear construction and distinctive silhouette, the Bookstand is both functional and sculptural. It accommodates books without visually dominating its surroundings, allowing the object itself to become a quiet spatial element.
