Torii Side Table

Manifest collection, the Torii tables explore the relationship between the imperfect richness of reclaimed materials and the rigor of a mirror-polished stainless steel structure. Born from a spatial narrative developed around recovered marble, the collection has gradually expanded into multiple variations that now shape the studio’s editorial line.

Presented here is the side table and stool scenario. Returning to a square format, its structural module draws inspiration from the Japanese Torii gate, giving this geometric composition both a lightness and a sculptural presence. Here, mirror-polished stainless steel engages in dialogue with the warmth of walnut, creating a tension between metallurgical precision, the craftsmanship of woodworking, and the natural irregularities of the wood.

The top is composed of slats reassembled from collected offcuts and carefully reworked, revealing the beauty of fragmented material while generating a pattern born from repetition. The legs, formed by cross-shaped columns, embody both stability and complexity, while the mirror-polished steel stretchers lend the top a sense of visual lightness and suspension. Produced in a limited series, each piece carries the singularities of its original materials. The project affirms an architectural and conscious approach to design, where reclaimed matter becomes a language and each fragment finds its place within a precise composition.
